Releases from the financial obligations of the PNW Housing Contract rarely occur. When releases occur, they are most often for financial emergencies and/or medical circumstances beyond the control of the resident.
- Examples of financial emergencies are: loss of educational support due to the death of a parent or loss of a job after the time the contract was signed.
- Financial emergencies are not: finding a less expensive place to live, automobile expenses, need to save money, etc.
- Medical circumstance examples are: surgery that impedes mobility for an extended period of time or requires an attendant’s assistance, need to be closer to family physician for treatment, etc.
- Medical emergencies are not: diet, allergies anxiety, stress, etc.
If you believe your circumstance merits a review, please complete the following requst. Please follow these directions:
- Gather all supporting documentation needed to support your reason for cancelling electronically. This can include but is not limited to:
- Acceptance Letter if transferring
- Correspondence from the University Registrar’s office or Office of the Dean of Students confirming the withdrawal, denial of admission, academic suspension, or academic dismissal from the University
- Bank statements/letter from parents to support any unforeseen financial hardship
- Email from Financial Aid office confirming aid available/amount
- Email from Advisor
- Medical paper work signed by medical practitioner
- Email noting your status on the Housing Waitlist
- Complete the below form completely
- Attach all supporting documentation to this form (near the end) and submit
Please know that by simply completing this form does not in any way guarantee your release from the housing contract.
You will receive notification via your PNW email within 10 business days of receiving all items associated with completing this form.
Contract Cancellation Reminder:
All reasons stated for cancellation of your housing contract, except graduation, may be subject to forfeiture of the $200.00 housing deposit to cover the Housing Contract Termination Fee. Academic suspension/dismissal will forfeit the $200.00 deposit. If this form is denied and you move out, you will owe 60% of the remainder of your contract. For more information concerning cancellation terms, please review your housing contract which can be accessed through your myPNW portal by clicking on "apply for housing" under the "Life at PNW" tab. Please note, the $20.00 Housing Application Fee as well as the $6.00 Housing Student Org fee are non-refundable.
