We are soliciting information to help develop and
communicate methodology to create model-based standards that can be interpreted
by computational systems and humans. The committee is considering multiple
industry-standard specification languages and modeling frameworks. We are
looking for feedback and advice through the “Spring 2020
ASME Model-Based Enterprise Industry Survey”.
How You Can Help
A principal concern of the Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) Standards Committee is the
interchange of data between systems and the continuity of accurate and stable
information across lifecycle phases. We are reaching out to you, as an expert
in your given field, to help us understand your current model-based activities
and future strategic plans. Your input is
critical to help identify the best methodology to develop model-based standards
that maximize value to industry, your company, and its products.
Please take the survey and respond to the best of your ability. Also, feel free
to forward this message to others within your organization.
MBE is Critical
to All Industries
MBE is a vast concept that encompasses the digitalization of
industrial data and activities used to create, deploy, use, service, and
decommission products and systems. MBE includes all uses of digital data within
an enterprise and across its extended ecosystem to enable stakeholders,
clients, and decision-makers. MBE methods, data, and tools will radically
improve organizational productivity, product quality, and value. MBE provides
consistent and trustworthy data throughout the entire lifecycle of a product
and ensures that data can flow seamlessly throughout the process.
Background on
the ASME MBE Standards Committee
In March 2018, ASME formed the MBE Steering Group to
establish direction, activities, priorities, and organizational structure of
the ASME MBE Standards Committee and its subcommittees. The work of the MBE
Steering Group can be found in the ASME MBE Recommendation Report
(go.asme.org/MBEreport).
Since then, ASME formed the MBE Standard Committee (SC) and
a Subject Matter Expert Support Group. The MBE SC created Working Groups
charged with determining near-term strategies, model-based methodologies,
framework, and lexicon for developing standards for MBE.
More information on the MBE Standards Committee can be found
on the ASME MBE Standards Committee Codes & Standards Connect Page (https://cstools.asme.org/csconnect/CommitteePages.cfm?Committee=102216151)
and the ASME MBE Redmine Collaboration Site (https://projects.mbe.institute/projects/asme-mbe-public-page).
