This study is being conducted to fulfil a requirement for a class on advanced research methods. The purpose of this study is to examine memory in eyewitness testimony.
Eyewitness testimony is often used in court for criminal cases, so it is important to continue research on the accuracy of such statements.
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to watch a video of a staged crime. You will answer some questions about the video, and complete a demographics survey as well as a survey about your opinions on crime.
This study should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
There are no foreseeable risks to you as a participant in this study beyond that you would encounter in everyday life. You may obtain some educational benefit by participating in the research and receiving an explanation of the rationale afterward. The research may help advance psychological science in general and indirectly benefit society.
Your privacy will be protected throughout the study. Your name will not be associated with any responses. The responses from many participants will be downloaded into a large statistical data base and analyzed for general trends. The statistical data base will be kept on a password protected computer. The project's research records may be reviewed by appropriate research or administrative personnel.
You do not have to participate in this project. If you agree to participate, you can withdraw any time without penalty.
If you have any questions about this project, you can contact me, Chelsi, at kerncz01@pfw.edu, or my instructor, Dr. Michael Bendele, at Bendele@pfw.edu.
