Minority Engineering Program Tutor Application
 
Qualifications

Students interested in becoming a Minority Engineering Program Tutor must meet the following minimum qualifications:
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.10 or higher
  • Have a minimum grade of a B in the course(s) they wish to tutor
  • Must be of at least a sophomore standing
  • Must have taken the course(s) they wish to tutor at Purdue or demonstrate that they have taken an equivalent course at another institution 
  • Must be available to attend training  
Responsibilities
  • Provide open and engaging tutorial services for all students on an as-needed basis
  • Proactively build student clientele for tutoring services
  • Daily tutoring report logging:
    • One on one tutoring activities
    • Group tutoring activities
    • Resources generated
    • Problems, issues, and concerns
  • Maintain a learning atmosphere in the Academic Success Center
  • Obtain the current syllabus for each course tutoring
  • Meet with professors, teaching assistants, and former students to identify most challenging conceptual areas in the syllabus
  • Find and catalog physical and digital learning resources for each conceptual area that appears on the current syllabus
    • Include course textbook, other textbooks, websites, videos, etc
  • Create "drill sheets" with problems and solutions outside of the course text for each conceptual area in the syllabus
  • Create resources videos for the most challenging concepts as identified
  • Maintain a physical binder with a listing of resources associated with each course tutored
  • Annotate all old practice exams mapping each exam question to concepts identified in course syllabus
  • Create, administer, and grade practice exams based on old exams
